“When we were searching for a photographer for our pre-wedding shoot in London we looked at all the best photographers we could find and Barrie’s portfolio really stood out. He was so friendly and a joy to work with, taking us to some great locations such as the Albert Memorial and the Royal College of Music for some unforgettable photos at locations we would never have chosen without his input.

“NO1 Pre-Wedding Photographer in London, without a doubt!”

His style of pre-wedding photography is dramatic and really suited our own style perfectly with his use of light and choice of locations showing off my red dress particularly well! The photos at St Pauls, The millennium Bridge and Tower Bridge are stand out choices for us, but honestly, we loved them all!  5-star photography and we received all of our photos within a few days all edited and looking beautiful. Highly recommended pre-wedding photography”

Clarence and Sue

Barrie is an amazing photographer. The entire process of the pre-wedding photoshoot was very exhaustive, as expected, in addition to the extremely sunny weather. However, we were pleasantly surprised how he consistently relates to us and ensure that the whole experience was a seamless and great one.

“Our pre-wedding shoot in Paris was amazing!”

There may be many great photographers out there, but I can assure you, he is the real deal who knows what his client wants. We all know that indoor shoots are always relatively easier to take, and outdoor shoots are usually more challenging due to lighting limitations, yet he is able to overcome such limitations at ease. A picture speaks a thousand words. Here is one which I am sharing my joy with all.”

Available for pre-wedding photography worldwide

“If you are looking for professionalism, exceptional photos, and to wow everyone with your final product, Barrie is your guy. I’m so happy we found him – we not only took home some amazing memories and visuals, but we left with a wonderful friendship that makes the experience all the better.”

The best locations in London

London is steeped in history and with such an eclectic mix of old and new buildings, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding on the best locations for a pre-wedding shoot in the city.

Pre-wedding photography of London landmarks

The city is full of historical landmarks and unique architecture that provide an interesting backdrop for photos. London is a cosmopolitan city with a diverse population and a rich culture, which can add a unique flavour to your pre-wedding photos. Moreover, London is well-known for its excellent shopping and dining, so when couples choose London for their pre-wedding photos they can also take advantage of the city’s many sites and take an extended break. Finally, London is a convenient location for photoshoots, as it is easily accessible by air and has a wide range of hotels and other accommodation options. all of these reasons make London an ideal location for your pre-wedding photos.

Big Ben pre wedding photography location

Big Ben & Houses of Parliament

Big Ben and Houses of Parliament is one of the must have shots as a backdrop for your pre-wedding photoshoot. The iconic scene looking back from the other side of Westminster Bridge looking towards Big Ben is always a popular choice for a pre-wedding photoshoot.

The History of Big Ben and the House of Parliament, Big Ben is one of London’s most famous landmarks. It stands at the north end of the Houses of Parliament, and its bell rings out every hour to remind people of the time. But how did Big Ben become so famous? And why is it called Big Ben?

The history of Big Ben actually begins with the Houses of Parliament. The original parliament house was built in the 12th century, and it was destroyed by a fire in 1834. A new parliament house was then built, and this is the one that still stands today.

The design of the new parliament house was chosen in a competition, and the winning design was submitted by Charles Barry and Augustus Welby Pugin. Pugin was an architect who was famous for his Gothic Revival style, and he used this style to create the new parliament house.

The clock tower of the parliament house was originally called the Victoria Tower, in honour of Queen Victoria and it’s the actual bell inside the tower that is named Big Ben not the tower itself.

This photo was taken as the refurbishment work was starting to be undertaken and over the last three years the building has been covered up, but I am delighted to sat that in early 2022 it is now available to use as the most iconic of pre wedding photography backdrops, as the repairs have been completed and the building is now looking like new!

Tower Bridge

Probably the most well know symbol of London.

Tower Bridge in London is one of the city’s most famous landmarks and is known worldwide. The bridge, which crosses the River Thames, was completed in 1894 and is a combined bascule and suspension bridge.

The structure of Tower Bridge consists of two towers that are linked by two horizontal walkways. The walkways are used by pedestrians and cyclists, and they can also be raised to allow boats to pass underneath. The bascule bridge, which is the part of Tower Bridge that opens, is powered by two steam engines.

Tower Bridge is one of London’s most popular tourist attractions and it is often used as a symbol of the city. The bridge has also been featured in many movies and TV shows, including James Bond films and The Avengers.

Just about every couple wants to feature Tower Bridge in their set of pre-wedding photos. Knowing the best places and angles to photograph the bridge from as well as where we can pose the couple that is in a public space and not private property also means we can go about taking their pre wedding photos with Tower Bridge without fear of being moved on by some over zealous security guards! As well as the Bridge itself there are some great areas around the bridge that are perfect for some additional photos while we are in the area.

Butlers Wharf & Shad Thames

Butlers-Wharf & Shad Thames near Tower Bridge as well as being an amazing location for a pre-wedding photoshoot itself also has an abundance of great restaurants, bars and cafes and is an excellent place to take a break during the photoshoot and possibly have a change of outfit, while taking in the views of the bridge and the river while preparing for the next part of your photoshoot and continue your pre-wedding photography in London on your journey of love.

The history of Shad Thames is very interesting with it being mentioned in the Doomsday book and there being a Roman burial ground found nearby. Butler’s Wharf was built in 1876 and Shad Thames followed in 1886. The area became very popular with artists and writers, with famous residents including T. S. Eliot and Virginia Woolf. The warehouses have now been converted into apartments and the area is now a fashionable and trendy place to live and visit.

Millennium Bridge

The millennium bridge in London opened to celebrate the arrival of the year 2000. It is a beautiful bridge that crosses the Thames River. The bridge is made of steel and glass, and it has a very modern design. It links the south bank to the north of the River Thames and you can see St Pauls’s Cathedral directly from the bridge to the North and The Tate Modern on the south side of the bridge.

The Millennium Bridge was closed in early 2002 because it was swaying too much. Engineers were not sure why the bridge was swaying, but they fixed the problem and the bridge reopened in 2002. The Millennium Bridge is now a popular tourist attraction in London. The bridge is very popular with joggers and cyclists. The views of London from the Millennium Bridge are amazing, and it is a great place to take photographs.

It can be very busy during peak times so I always suggest early on Sunday morning or out of season as the best times to have a chance of getting a pre-wedding photo with no other people in it. Otherwise, it’s vest to embrace the hustle and bustle and use the people crossing the bridge as extras in your photoshoot!.

Albert Memorial – Kensington Gardens

The Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens is opposite another great pre-wedding photo opportunity, The Royal Albert Hall and the adjacent Royal College Music.

It is a large ornate Gothic Revival style memorial to Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria. The memorial was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and construction began in 1864. It took 10 years to complete at a cost of £223,000.

The Memorial is approached via four flights of steps, each with a gilded statue of an angel on one side. The central part of the Memorial is a large ornate cross, 60 feet high, with an equestrian statue of Albert at its centre. The whole memorial is decorated with statues, shields and other ornaments.

Prince Albert was greatly loved by the people and the memorial became a popular place for tourists and Londoners tovisit. In the First World War, it became a place of pilgrimage for those who had lost loved ones in the conflict.

The memorial is now a Grade I listed building and one of the most popular tourist attractions in London.

If you’re looking for an interesting and beautiful place to take your pre-wedding photos, the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens is a great choice.

Regent Street

The steps of the entrance to Picadilly Circus tube station by Regent Street is a great place to pose a couple for a photo of the curved buildings in the background.

Red London Bus and Black Cab

Also, a great location to get shots with those iconic London red buses and the word famous Black Cab.

The street is also home to a variety of high-end stores, including Tiffany & Co., Burberry, and Apple. All of the buildings on Regent Street are Grade II listed and all tall buildings are banned from the area to keep their unique architectural style and not be overshadowed by taller buildings nearby.

The street is also a popular spot for buskers and street performers to showcase their talents. There’s always something happening on Regent Street, so it’s the perfect place to go if you’re looking for a little bit of excitement in your day. Just be prepared to walk a lot, as the street is quite long!

British Museum

Over two million years of history and culture are on display at the British Museum, making it one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations.

The museum is home to a vast collection of Egyptian antiquities, including the Rosetta Stone and the mummy of Pharaoh Ramses II. It also contains one of the largest collections of paintings and sculptures in Europe, including masterpieces by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Rembrandt. The museum is open every day of the year except December 24th and 25th. Admission is free for all visitors.

At the centre of the British Museum is the largest covered public square in Europe and a fantastic backdrop to a pre-wedding shoot. The courtyard is flanked by two magnificent wings, the one on the right containing the museum’s main entrance. The building on the left is the British Library, which was once part of the British Museum until 1997 and also a great location for some photos of couple together on the steps leading up to the building.

Royal Albert Hall

The Royal Albert Hall is a concert hall in South Kensington, London, England. It was inaugurated by Queen Victoria in 1871. The Hall is a registered charity held in trust for the nation and receives no public or government funding.

The Hall was originally dedicated to Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria. It was renamed in 1893 to commemorate both Prince Albert and Queen Victoria. The Hall is used for a variety of events, including classical and rock concerts, opera, ballet, charity events, dance classes and amateur dramatics.

The first performance at the Hall was a piano recital by Franz Liszt on 14 March 1871. The concert hall was extensively renovated in 1992.

The Royal Albert Hall is a perfect backdrop for a pre-wedding shoot with its imposing architecture making a great backdrop for couples where we can add some movement, be it dancing, walking or just fooling around. More photos from this London pre wedding shoot here.

The Streets Of Kensington

and their architecture are very popular for being used in movies and TV shows. One such show is “Sherlock” which has many scenes filmed on these streets.

Mostly Edwardian themed the district of Kensington have stuccoed white or brown exteriors with many projecting stories and ornamental details

The roofs are mostly tiled in red, orange or black and the walls of the gardens behind are usually made of brick

This along with other factors such as the close proximity to Hyde Park, good transport links and a wide range of shops and restaurants makes it an attractive place to live and film in, ideal for your pre-wedding photoshoot with that classic London vibe.

St pauls Cathedral

one of the landmarks of the London skyline and known the world over, St Paul’s Cathedral is a must-see for any couple on a pre-wedding photoshoot.

The history of the cathedral is as fascinating as the architecture; it was built on the site of a Roman temple and has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries. The current building, designed by Christopher Wren, was completed in 1708.

The interior of the cathedral is just as impressive as the exterior, with its soaring ceilings and intricate details.

There are also several interesting features to see, such as the Whispering Gallery and the Golden Gallery. It gets extremely busy in the summer months and it’s best o get there very early on a weekend for the best chance of getting some pre-wedding photos without throngs of people everywhere and security asking you to move on!

The cathedral is located in the heart of London, just a short walk from St Paul’s Tube station.

So if you’re looking for an interesting and beautiful location for your pre-wedding shoot which just screams London! this one is for you.

Paternoster Square

Situated right next to St Pauls’s Cathedral Paternoster Square is one of the most popular spots in London. It’s home to a variety of high-end shops and restaurants, as well as a few tourist attractions like the London Stock Exchange.

The square is named after the famous Paternoster Square building, which used to house the headquarters of the London Stock Exchange.

I have used the Sculpture known as the Paternoster Vents Or Angles Wings to frame couples here when photographing them on their pre-wedding session.

These days, Paternoster Square is more of a tourist hotspot than anything else, but it’s still worth a visit if you’re in the area. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from, as well as some interesting historical sights.

London Eye

The London Eye was built to celebrate the year 2000 and is currently the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe. It has 32 capsules, each of which can hold up to 25 people. The Eye offers fantastic views of London and its surroundings.

A popular location for a pre-wedding shoot and within easy walking distance of Westminster Bridge and Big Ben, so we usually add this to the Pre Wedding itinerary if we are in the area. The London Eye is situated on the banks of the River Thames and can be seen from many locations in the city. It is a great place to take photos, especially at night when it is all lit up. Again a really popular tourist hotspot so it’s best to try and visit it early or late in the day when it’s less busy.

Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace is the London residence and administrative headquarters of the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom. Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is often at the center of state occasions and royal hospitality. It has been a focal point for the British people at times of national rejoicing and mourning.

The original palace was built on the site of a seventeenth-century mansion, which was destroyed by fire in 1834. The present structure was designed by John Nash in the nineteenth century. The palace contains 775 rooms, and the garden is the largest private garden in London. The staterooms are used for official occasions such as coronations, investitures, and state banquets.

The palace is open to the public during the summer months. Visitors can view some of the state rooms and the Queen’s Gallery, which houses a collection of paintings, sculptures, furniture, and porcelain from the Royal Collection.

Leadenhall Market

Is a covered market located in the City of London, just off Gracechurch Street and near Leadenhall Street? The market dates back to the 14th century and today is a major tourist attraction, with many visitors coming to see the architecture of the Victorian roof. It’s a stunning building that lends itself well to a pre-wedding shoot, especially if the weather is not great in London.

The market is open Monday to Friday from 10 am until 5 pm, and on Saturday from 9 am until 5 pm. You’ll find all sorts of stalls here, selling everything from food to souvenirs. There are also a few restaurants located inside the market for when you get a bit peckish.

The market has a wide variety of shops, selling everything from fresh produce to souvenirs. There are also several restaurants and cafes, making it the perfect spot to pick up a bite to eat. In addition, Leadenhall Market is home to the world’s oldest covered shopping arcade, which is worth a visit in its own right.

If you’re looking for a unique London pre-wedding shoot location, be sure to check out Leadenhall Market.

How to pose couples to create natural and emotive photos

Capturing the love between two people is one of the most rewarding aspects of photography. However, it can also be one of the most challenging, as couples often feel awkward and uncomfortable in front of the camera. The key to creating natural and emotive photos is to find poses that are elegant and comfortable for the couple. One simple way to do this is to have them stand close together, with their heads tilted towards each other. Another option is to have them sit down and hold hands, or perhaps wrap their arms around each other. The important thing is to experiment and see what works best for the couple on the day. With a little patience and creativity, we are rewarded with beautiful photos that capture the essence of their love.

What is the best time of the day for great light when photographing couples?

There is no definitive answer to this question as the best time of day for great light will vary depending on the time of year, location and weather conditions. However, we try to include shooting in the early morning or late afternoon/early evening when the sun is low in the sky. This will create softer, more flattering light. and also allow us to control the light or add our own light, for example adding a small off-camera flash behind the couple can create a really dramatic look in low light at sunset or night time like this photos here at Westminster Bridge at sunset.

We may need to use fill light in the midday sun to help even out the lighting and stop any harsh shadows, but this will also depend on the particular location. If you’re shooting in an urban environment, for example, the buildings and other structures can create their own shadows which can be used to our advantage. The best thing to do is to experiment and see what works best in each situation.

How can I make my couple’s photos more dynamic?

One way to add dynamism to your couple’s photos is to include movement in the shot. This can be anything from having the couple walk towards you, or even just simply changing their pose. Another option is to use a shallow depth of field, which will help to isolate the couple and make them stand out from their surroundings.

What is Pre wedding photography?

Pre-wedding photography or a pre-wedding shoot has a couple of meanings depending on where you are from. In the UK over the last 10 years, it has become more commonplace to have an engagement or pre-wedding photoshoot a few months before your wedding to get used to being photographed. You will then have a great set of engagement photos to announce your engagement on social media or use on wedding invites. These usually are quite low key and often in casual everyday wear or maybe in an evening dress and black tie.

In Asian cultures it has a very different meaning, you may have seen couples from China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan dressed in their finest wedding attire including wedding dresses, elaborate evening dresses and tailored suits or tuxedos. They will have professional hair and makeup and the pre-wedding London photoshoot will be a much more structured and professional session over many hours or even days in multiple locations.

How much does a pre-wedding photoshoot cost?

Pre-wedding shoots cost from £1,10 to £10,000 depending on your location and how many hours you need a photographer for.

pre-wedding photography London starts at £1,100 for digital images only.

A three-day pre-wedding photoshoot in Iceland could cost around £5,000 depending on your requirements and time of year.

Pre wedding photoshoot story

In the morning, we got up to take a walk around the city. We headed towards the London Eye and when we finally reached Big Ben, it was about 11:00 am and we were both famished. Luckily, there was a food truck nearby that sold authentic British street food like Fish & Chips covered in malt vinegar sauce or curry-spiced meat pies with thick-crusted bread. We decided on some delicious looking pastries for breakfast so our stomachs wouldn’t growl as much during our visit to the Tower of London later this afternoon. After eating, I took out my camera from its case and hit record mode as I interviewed her about her thoughts on all these wonderful things she’s seen so far in England before giving before the photographer started our pre-wedding photoshoot around some of the most iconic sights in London including views of the London Eye and Big Ben. Then, we took a walk towards the Tower Bridge for our next photoshoot location where I asked her to pose in front of it before we got our signature low-angle shot which will be perfect for including behind her head as she celebrates with family and friends back home.

London pre-wedding photoshoots are so popular with couples from Hong Kong these days because it’s a great way to start off their marriage. With the booming economies of both countries, and with so many people relocating for work or study abroad, many couples choose to tie the knot overseas to get married in England by a British official before they return home. The pre-wedding photoshoot helps give them something memorable that they can share with their friends and family like a highlight reel of their marriage. Things to do before a pre-wedding photoshoot in London include getting dressed up for the occasion, choosing the setting and scenery you want to embrace as your photographer captures some truly beautiful pictures of what might be considered “your one true love” by many people. When you get ready for your pre-wedding photoshoot in London, it’s important to choose a location that has both a historical significance and one that will make for stunning pictures as well. The Tower of London is the perfect place to set up an outdoor venue because many couples want their wedding photos taken at a castle or another type of historic building. The Tower of London is one of the most well-known places to get married in all of London with its centuries worth of history and is a place where many famous people were executed. To make your pre-wedding photoshoot as successful as possible, it’s important to choose a date that won’t be too busy and book your London pre-wedding photographer in plenty of time as they get booked up during the busy months.

What is the best camera for pre-wedding photography?

I use a Nikon Z6 mirrorless system and I absolutely love it. I think it is the best all-around camera out there for pre-wedding photography

The Nikon Z6 is a great mirrorless system that can do pretty much anything you need for pre-wedding photography. It has amazing image quality, a higher file size which is great for large prints, great autofocus, and is relatively small and lightweight. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great all-around camera for wedding and pre-wedding photography.

The Nikon Z series lenses are fantastically sharp and the quality of the images from the combination of Z6 and Z series lenses is outstanding. The 24-70mm is my go-to lens for pre-wedding portraits as it covers a great focal range and the small aperture allows for some nice shallow depth of field shots. The 70-200mm f/2.8 is also a great lens for pre-wedding photography.

Preparing for your pre-wedding shoot

f you want your pre-wedding photoshoot to be memorable and beautiful, preparation is key. Before the day of the shoot, take some time to plan out exactly what type of pictures you’d like to take. Consider any poses or props that you feel could add to the atmosphere and make sure all outfits are clean, pressed and ready to go.

Additionally, check that anything else you need is on hand – including a change of clothes in case of unexpected weather. Finally, arrive at the venue early so you have plenty of time to set up and practice your poses before the photographer arrives. With these tips, your photos will be a stunning reflection of yourself and your partner on your special day!

How to have a stress free pre-wedding photography session

One of the most important aspects of a successful pre wedding photoshoot is ensuring it’s stress-free. To do this, planning is essential. Start by creating a timeline and budget for the day. If possible, recruit a friend or family member to help you with setup and poses on the day – they can also be mindful of any potential distractions that might worry or annoy you during the shoot.

Additionally, practice posing beforehand if needed so that you’re feeling confident and relaxed when it comes to taking photos. Finally, keep your expectations realistic and don’t forget to have fun! With these tips in mind, your pre-wedding photoshoot should be an enjoyable experience that produces stunning results.
